AAA Carolinas reveal less people going on holidays, vacation travels

The growing number of unemployed citizens has led to the drastic decline of interest in going on holidays or vacation travels during Thanksgiving. This was revealed by AAA Carolinas.

AAA said that it estimated about 1,167,000 North Carolinians to travel more than fifty miles away from their homes this year which is just an increase of about 27,000.

AAA Carolinas spokesman Tom Crosby said that the figures last year were understandable because that’s where the economic slump started. However, the figures this year is still considered not back to normal as compared to the 2007 levels.

The reason behind this is the continuing increase in gas prices. This led people to just stay at home in the holidays rather than spend on gas for holiday travels.

Air travel has decreased by 7 percent this year due to gas prices as well.

search for holiday ideas

Searching for holidays ideas? Major social networking sites could be the answer to your problems.
According to reports, more than fifty percent of consumers surveyed by company Deloitte stated that they use the social networking sites in researching and finding gift and holiday ideas.

About fifty two percent of those surveyed go through the wish lists specified by their friends and loved ones in social networking sites such as MySpace, Multiply and Facebook.

Aside from getting ideas, the social networking sites are becoming more accessible when it comes to finding product discounts and other sales.

Topping the list of popular gifts this holiday season include mobile phones such as iPhones, mp3 and mp4 gadgets, notebook computers, personal computers, lingerie and many more.

About fifty five percent of respondents stated that they plan to use their phones in finding stores in the area and even use the gadget to search for discounts and make purchases.

Holidays Bargains on Online Auction Sites

The economy is continually changing and it seems like prices are hiking up by the second. Eight years ago, people were carefree about holidays and expenses. Entire families could pack up and leave for an extensive cruise ship tour of the Caribbean. Today, the feeling is more cautious than carefree. People are afraid to splurge too much on holidays because they have become too expensive.

However, that doesn’t mean that Holiday vacations should only be spent at home. No, there are a lot of Holidays on a bargain and online auction sites are one of the best places to find them.  Just visit the any online auction site and you will see a whole range of Holidays on discount. Some people even get lucky and find a Holiday package to the Canary Islands for as little as £50 US.

Holidays on bargain may seem like a good thing. But, holiday hunters should be careful. You have to make sure that you are purchasing valid holiday packages. Don’t get fooled by too-wonderful-to-be-true images. Dig a little further and see if you really are bidding for the genuine thing. If you don’t, you may find yourself at a loss and staying in a crummy hotel instead of the 5 star images it was advertised to be.

If you do get a good deal, don’t forget your bikini or tankini as holidays are the best way to become stress free and - the most important thing - get a great tan!
