Search engine giant to shoulder airport Wi-Fi fees for holidays
Travelers can now avail of free internet service through Wi-Fi connectivity during the holidays as search engine giant Google has decided to provide free connectivity at 47 major airports across the United States, including seven airports in the State of Florida.
The airports identified that will have free Wi-Fi access in Florida are Fort Myers, Jax, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Panama City, Orlando and West Palm Beach.
Michael Stewart, spokesperson for the Jacksonville International Airport, said that the establishment already has WiFi service but so far there’s payment still involved, saying that it is a revenue-generating business. With Google taking care of the bill, the business will certainly continue to flourish, he added.
Google Vice President of Search Products and User Experience Marissa Mayer said that they are happy to impart this gift to the travelers during the holidays since millions of people will certainly communicate with their loved ones at the airport while waiting for their flights. The free wi-fi service ends on January 15, 2010.
